“I see some potential in this idea.”

Someone has presented a business idea to you and you think it might be successful. You say:

I see some real potential in this idea.

see potential in (someone or something)

You can "see potential" in an idea. It means that you think it might be a good idea, although the details might need to be improved a bit.

You can also see potential in a person - usually a young person who you think might one day become successful.
