Phrases in use (Video clips!)

A long time ago, I used to include video clips with some PhraseMix lessons. I thought I'd bring it back for the Premium members. Take a look at some real-life examples of recent phrases in use.

any (something) that comes along

In this video, the speaker is talking about how Google prevents spam. He uses the phrase "any fad that comes along". I introduced a similar phrase in the lesson "We can't take in every stray that comes along."

 

ease out of (something)

You learned about this phrase in the lesson "What'd you do? Did you go cold turkey, or try to ease out of it?"

In this video, a fitness instructor is using the expression to talk about how to start and end a workout:

By the way, there's a mistake in the subtitles on this video: it says "after the effect" but should be "after the fact".

ideally, I'd like (something)

This phrase comes from the lesson "Ideally, I'd like to be responsible for managing a small team of my own."

Here is a scene from a soap opera that includes "Ideally". A husband is angry that his wife is being friendly to another guy on Valentine's Day:
